Gianfranco Fernández-Ruiz
Gianfranco Fernández-Ruiz is a Los Angeles-based Writer|Director|Producer. His coming-of-age short JEROME was a finalist for the 2023 HBO Short Film Award. His satirical horror short SABORRRR! premiered at Fantastic Fest, with the most diverse BIPOC crew in Utah film history. As a writer, his features placed as finalist in several competitions, most notably, the Nicholls Fellowship, Screencraft, and Sundance Labs. Gianfranco earned an MFA from the AFI Conservatory in Directing. His work has screened all over the world, and his thesis film WHEN BIG PEOPLE LIE releases in 2024. Often representing characters of diverse backgrounds, Gianfranco believes that culture and race should be integral to a character's identity, but always second to the universal - story.
